RON LEO LOPEZ - V70887
PLEASANT VALLEY STATE PRISON (A4-115)
PO BOX 8501
COALINGA CA 93210
Ron Leo Lopez Jr. was born 1-17-64 at Valley Medical Center, San Jose, CA. He describes himself as Spanish and Italian. His foster care & adoption files are held by Santa Clara County Social Services and Santa Clara Cunty Court.
[3/09 UPDATE].... With AmFOR's help, Ron located and has been in contact with his father who remarried after losing cusody of Ron. He recalls that his father tried to retain custody but probably the Court would have denied hum because his father had a past criminal record.
With AmFOR's and his father's help, Ron now hopes to locate his mother, Martha Adams (her name when she later married George Adams); she would be in her 70's; he was with her only 6 weeks.
Ron would also like to find his brother, Christopher Gonzales, who has the same mother but different father. His brother would be about 2 years older than Ron; the brothers had the same foster parents, Melvin and Myrtle Rowens in San Jose, in childhood & were separated in foster care. Ron was told that his mother and brother once resided in Martinez, CA, and moved to Oregon. He was told his mother later had 2 more children.
Ron was convicted under California's "3 Strikes Law" for possession of $10 worth of metamphetamine. He informs AmFOR that he has a good lawyer due to California's Appellate Program & is hopeful that his conviction may be overturned. He has also had medical issues in prison and is seeking a medical malpractice attorney.
Ron welcomes any outside contacts.
============================================ LETTERS FROM RON:
1-22-09 excerpted letter from Ron:
Dear Lori,
...you are a very special person to do what you do for [prisoners] such as myself... While prison guards are claiming over-time and making more money, prisoners' meals are getting smaller and smaller & the cost of additional foods such as beans, coffee, etc, has increased, even doubled, to more than you would pay at the supermarket... which should be illegal since we're suposed to receive so many calories per day for good health. I went from 198 lbs to 172 lbs in the past 2 months despite that I eat everything on my plate... I hope our new President can help the people who need it...
Respectfully, Ron
